    OGN Guide

    Quick Answer

What is the Open Glider Network (OGN)?

OGN is a worldwide, community-operated network for real-time tracking of gliders and aircraft with FLARM. It receives 868 MHz signals from ground stations and displays positions on glidernet.org. Stratux with FLARM module can receive OGN traffic.

What is the Open Glider Network?

The Open Glider Network (OGN) is a non-commercial, community-operated project for real-time tracking of aircraft with FLARM or compatible transponders.

The network consists of thousands of receiving stations worldwide, operated by volunteers. These stations receive FLARM signals and relay them to central servers, where they are made available for tracking on glidernet.org.

For pilots, OGN provides a free way to track flights, enhance safety, and create flight records.

    OGN Frequency

    868.2 MHz

    ISM Band (License-free)

    Europe

OGN ground stations receive signals on 868.2 MHz – the same frequency as FLARM, FANET, and other compatible protocols.

    How OGN Works

    1

    Transmit

FLARM devices or OGN trackers broadcast position and identification on 868 MHz (Europe).

    2

    Receive

OGN ground stations receive the signals and relay them via internet to OGN servers.

    3

    Display

Positions are displayed on glidernet.org and compatible apps in real-time.

    OGN and Stratux

Stratux systems with FLARM module can receive and display OGN data. This enables visibility of gliders, ultralight aircraft, and other aircraft with FLARM in your EFB app.

In combination with ADS-B, Stratux thus provides comprehensive traffic detection for different aircraft types.

    Useful Tools

    FLARM/OGN Range Analyzer

Check real-time FLARM/OGN reception range and ground station coverage in your area using live data from OGN ground stations.
