    What You Need

    • MicroSD card (16GB or larger recommended)
    • SD card reader for your computer
    • Balena Etcher or Raspberry Pi Imager software
    • Stable internet connection for download
    1

    Download Balena Etcher

Download and install Balena Etcher. This free tool works on Windows, macOS, and Linux. Alternatively, you can use Raspberry Pi Imager.

    2

    Download Stratux Firmware

Go to the GitHub releases page for your region (EU or US) and download the latest .img or .img.zip file. The EU version is maintained by b3nn0, the US version by cyoung.

    3

    Insert SD Card

Insert your microSD card into your computer using an SD card reader. Make sure the card is empty or backed up - all data will be erased during flashing. It's recommended to format the SD card first using the official SD Card Formatter tool.

    Flash the Image

Open Balena Etcher, click 'Flash from file' and select the downloaded Stratux image. Select your SD card as the target, then click 'Flash!'. The process takes 5-10 minutes.

    5

    Verify and Eject

Etcher will automatically verify the flash. Once complete, safely eject the SD card from your computer. The card is now ready to use in your Stratux.

    6

    Insert into Stratux

Insert the flashed SD card into your Raspberry Pi. Connect power and wait for the device to boot. You should see the 'stratux' WiFi network appear within 60 seconds.

    Important Notes

    • Always use a high-quality SD card (Class 10 or better) to prevent corruption
    • The EU firmware requires different SDR calibration than US firmware
    • Keep a backup of your SD card image after configuration
